Steak & Salsa Verde Tacos
Gonna start this off with these are the sexiest tacos I’ve EVER made. AND giving Peter all the credit for wanting to do something fun totally for scratch! He’s had this burning desire to make salsa verde from scratch & get all authentic ingredients, so that we did! Lots of steps, but SO fun & the taste.. worth it! Cheers to doing something NEW && from scratch 🥂
Ingredients & How To:
For Salsa Verde: ~6-8 tomatillos, 1/2 white onion, juice of 3-4 limes, 1 jalapeño, large handful fresh cilantro, 6 cloves garlic, s&p to taste
Steak: skirt steak or flank steak, 1/4 cup ish Orange Juice, juice of 3 limes, lots of garlic, 1/4 chopped red onion, chopped cilantro, sprinkle chili powder, sprinkle cumin, s&p
Fixings: Tortillas (team corn for me), fresh cilantro, lettuce, chihuahua cheese or queso fresco, Mexican crema, jalapeño
mix all ingredients for steak marinate & pour over steak, let marinate as long as possible!
start the salsa - roast tomatillos & jalapeño PLAIN on the grill or oven (remove skin from tomatillos) until charred all around
add tomatillos & jalapeño + chopped onion, cilantro, garlic, lime juice, s&p to blender & pulse - TRY AS YOU GO (this is key)
when ready - grill steak: we did 7-8 min a side (about 1 inch thick) for med rare
chop ingredients & prep toppings!
heat tortillas over open flame or ok the grill & BUILD EM UP!
🌮also made salsa verde chicken in the crockpot! 3 breasts + 1/2 red onion + 1 cup salsa verde: on low for 3ish hours!
🌮I did corn tortilla, 1 steak 1 chicken, lettuce, salsa verde, queso fresco, crema & cilantro!
